The main task of the special operation is to prevent illegal migrants from crossing the state border.

On the morning of November 24, a joint special border operation "Polesie" began on the border with Belarus, which is coordinated by the State Border Service of Ukraine and is carried out jointly with the forces of the National Guard, National Police, Armed and Air Forces of Ukraine, as well as other reserves. This is reported by the State Border Service.

"These are ongoing measures to increase security and protection of the Ukrainian border with the aim of preventing a migration crisis and counteracting illegal activities," the message says.

Vladimir Nikyforenko, the first deputy head of the State Border Service, noted that the threat of the spread of the migration crisis and the possibility of redirecting the flow of migrants to Ukraine remain at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. In this regard, measures are being taken to increase the border protection system in this area.

"In order to further react to a possible complication of the situation, a joint special border operation has been agreed with the interacting state structures and a corresponding plan has been worked out. The special operation has begun," he emphasized.

He added that the main task of the operation is to prevent illegal migrants from crossing the state border. For this, coordination of all involved forces is ensured.

To manage the operation and operational information exchange, the work of interdepartmental coordination headquarters is organized at the central and regional levels, and coordination management groups are created at the tactical (district) level.

Control of the regime of the state border will be carried out by increased border patrols with a simultaneous increase in forces and means in possible areas of requests for a breakthrough by groups of illegal migrants.

Aviation, drones, and technical means of surveillance will be actively used to patrol and monitor the border.

In addition, a significant strengthening of the border regime along the Ukrainian-Belarusian section of the state border is envisaged. Checkpoints will be set up on highways within the controlled border areas, as well as patrolling of the main roads leading to the state border, inspections of bus and train stations, preventive measures in border settlements.
