The Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine announced a cyber attack on the document management system of state bodies, which, presumably, could have been carried out by Russian hackers.
The press service of the National Security Service of Ukraine reports this on Facebook.
"The National Cybersecurity Coordination Center under the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine recorded requests for the distribution of harmful programs through the System of Electronic Interaction of Executive Authorities (SEC)," the message said.
According to the NSDC, the hackers wanted to infect the information resources of state bodies, since it is precisely with the use of this system that document circulation is carried out in most of them. After downloading, the virus allowed remote control of the computer to be installed.
"The methods and means of implementing this cyberattack allow us to connect it with one of the hacker espionage groups from the Russian Federation," the NSDC reported.
This cyberattack refers to the so-called supply chain attack: hackers tried to gain access to the target organization not directly, but through vulnerabilities in the tools and services it uses.
