Vaccination against COVID-19 has started in Ukraine. A doctor from Cherkassy was the first to receive the vaccine — the CoviShield vaccine.
This was reported by the chairman of Cherkassy OGA Alexander Skichko on Facebook.
"Meet me, this is Yevgeny Vasilyevich Gorenko. He was the first in Ukraine to receive the covid vaccine. This is a resuscitation doctor from the city of Cherkasy, who works in the Kovid department of the Cherkasy Regional Hospital," Skichko said.
According to Skichko, as well as in Ukraine as a whole, in the Cherkassy region, a cascade model of vaccination will work, which provides for the work of mobile teams in a certain sequential order.
"We strictly monitor the temperature regime for vaccine storage — from +2° to +8°C," added the chairman of the OGA.
He emphasized that vaccination against coronavirus is voluntary and free. "It will take place in V stages: in the first stage, medical workers and personnel providing assistance to covid patients will receive vaccinations, in II - people with an extremely high risk of infection (social workers, people over 80 years old, other medical workers), in III - people with a high risk of infection and those who work in the State Security Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, the police, in educational institutions, at the IV stage — people aged 60 to 64 years, adults with concomitant diseases. Stage V — all other categories of the population," the official noted.
He also told a story about whether it is necessary to get vaccinated.
"I was struck by the story of a resuscitator who saved the lives of patients with covid. To my question, is he ready to be vaccinated, the answer was unequivocal: "yes." When I asked: "why?", he said: "every day I save people in the intensive care unit and see what consequences the coronavirus can lead to," Skichko said.
