The report "Life, Work, Covid-19" was presented in the European Parliament, according to which, after the start of the coronavirus pandemic, more than a third of Europeans work remotely. The European Parliament proposes to legislate for them the right not to answer the employer's calls during non-working hours.
This was reported by the press service of the European Parliament.
So, according to the report, remote work worsened the psychological health of Europeans. The reason is that, performing their duties from home, they do not have the opportunity to "leave work at work", which is why people are always under tension. According to the survey, this also affected the quality of the work performed, many employees do not feel that they are engaged in useful work and complain about the feeling of isolation. In order to make life easier for the remote worker, the European Parliament proposed to enshrine the right of employees not to communicate in their free time. The corresponding resolution was adopted on Tuesday, December 1. 31 people voted "for", 18 abstained, and 6 spoke "against".
They note that the resolution itself has no legal force, it must be considered at the session of the European Parliament in January next year. If it receives the support of the European Parliament, it will be handed over to the European Commission.
The resolution refers to the fact that the employer's expectation that the employee will be available around the clock can negatively affect people's health, their satisfaction with life, and the balance between work and free time.
