Today, January 16, article 30 of the language law came into force, obliging all service providers in Ukraine to communicate with clients exclusively in the state language.
This is stated in the Law of Ukraine "On ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state".
The document stipulates that all service providers, regardless of the form of ownership, are obliged to serve consumers in the Ukrainian language.
This applies to supermarkets, online stores, cafes, banks, gas stations, pharmacies, etc.
Manufacturers and sellers in Ukraine are obliged to provide consumers with information about goods, works or services in the state language. But such information can be duplicated in any other language.
At the same time, only at the request of the client, the service provider or seller can provide service in another language.
In the event of a violation by employees of the service sector and companies, every citizen can contact Taras Kremen, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language. In the case of systematic violations of the language legislation, violators will be fined.
