The judge of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court, Oksana Oleynyk, arrested in absentia the Odessa businessman Vladimir Galanternyk, who is called the "shadow master of Odessa" in the mass media.
The investigation considers him to be the organizer of the creation of a criminal organization and the illegal occupation of the land of the territorial community of Odessa, which caused damage to the community in the amount of more than 558 million hryvnias. Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov also figures in this case.
At the same time, the haberdashery itself is located outside of Ukraine.
The prosecutor stated during the session that the suspect has been abroad most of the time in recent years. In 2017, he was out of the country for 215 days, in 2018 – 221, in 2019 – 240, in 2020 – 191. This year, he was outside Ukraine for 56 days.
The lawyers called smaller periods of time, but admitted that he is often in London, where his family lives.
