A fire broke out in the student dormitory at 74 Novoselskogo Street in the center of Odessa today. This is the dormitory of the State University of Intellectual Technologies and Communications. This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of the Odesa Region.
According to their information, they received a signal about a fire in the dormitory at 15.34:XNUMX p.m. Four minutes later, rescuers arrived at the scene.
It is known that the fire started on the seventh floor. Rescuers localized the fire and evacuated people from the building. 48 rescuers and 14 units of equipment were used to extinguish the fire.
According to preliminary information, 37 people were evacuated, there were no victims or victims, but two people turned to doctors. They inhaled the smoke.
Among the evacuees is a pregnant woman who lives on the ninth floor. Everything is fine with her.
As Vadim Shulyuk, the head of the State Emergency Service in the Odesa region, said, earlier specialists found violations at this facility and appealed to the court to have it closed. The court made a corresponding decision, but it is not yet in the State Security Service.
The tenants themselves could not put out the fire, since all the equipment is defective or completely absent.
"Windows on bars are installed, but they should not be. All fire hydrants are locked. With the help of an ax, we opened one, but there was no water there. The fire alarm didn't work because it's not there," said Vadym Shulyuk.
