At the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise "Antonov", which is part of Ukroboronprom, the first serial military transport aircraft An-178-100R was presented for certification tests.
The vessel is intended for flight certification tests. This is the first of three aircraft manufactured by the Antonov concern for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
It can be used for the transportation of personnel (a maximum of 100 people), the delivery of weapons and light military equipment by landing and parachute methods, as well as the transportation of cargo.
According to the creators, this aircraft was developed using modern information technologies and sensors for control and control optimization.
The new aircraft is the first of three An-178 ordered by the Ministry of Defense from Antonov. It can rise to a height of 12,2 km, cover a distance of 5 km with a maximum speed of 500 km/h and has a load capacity of up to 825 tons.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov noted that these aircraft will not be released three, as stipulated in the contract for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there will be more of them. The Commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Nikolay Oleschuk said that ahead of the tests of the ship, it is also necessary to prepare a staff of pilots for the aircraft and engineers who could repair and service it.
