The company "Ukrnaftainvest" started the construction of the first well in the oil-bearing area in the former Saratsky district of the Odesa region. This was reported by the press service of BGV Group Management, which includes the company.
"We consider the project to be very promising: the previously explored geological oil reserves of the largest field amount to about 8 million tons," said the director of the geology department of BGV Group Management, Michal Myshlyvets.
"The fact that oil companies have not been involved in this region of Ukraine for many years is, from our point of view, positive. If it were otherwise, it is possible that the oil fields discovered in the eighties in this area would have already been developed," he noted.
The history of this deposit is ancient. The first exploratory drilling at the Saratskoe site was carried out in the 1970s, and the Vostochnosaratskoe field was opened in 1983.
The geological structure of this area differs from the structure of other oil and gas districts of Ukraine. To obtain industrial results, the company intends to use all modern methods of oil field drilling and development.
"Based on the already obtained results of geophysical studies, we expect a good result from the first well. After development, we will move to the stage of trial oil production. At the same time, we are starting preparations for drilling the next wells at the beginning of 2022, which will be gradually put into operation," the message said.
Since the production direction of the Sarat region is agriculture, the company intends to drill several inclined wells from one small site to limit the negative impact on the environment.

In addition, we plan to leave long-term social assistance to local communities, which is a common practice for our company," the press service of BGV Group Management reported.
