The best teacher of Ukraine in 2021 was Artur Prodaikov, a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature from Kyiv.
In the capital, on Teacher's Day, the winner of the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine was announced. The award ceremony took place on Sofia Square.
In the final, the name of the winner was displayed on the Vernadskyi library.
Artur Prodaikov was born in Luhansk region in a Russian-speaking family, and now in the capital he teaches children the Ukrainian language with the help of memes, tiktok and Scriabin's songs.
Under his mentorship, schoolchildren complete the final exam for 190+ points, after the first year at the university they find a job and fall in love with modern Ukrainian literature.
The teacher's dream is to build a cultural bridge between people from the West and East of Ukraine with the help of travel. Artur Prodaikov believes that thanks to the erasure of barriers between Ukrainians, it will be easier to counter the information war.
"I am confident that it is the teachers who will influence the fact that changes will take place in our state - qualitative and positive," said Artur Prodaikov at the award ceremony.
Artur Proydakov won among three thousand applicants from all regions of the country.
The Global Teacher Prize Ukraine awards teachers in several nominations.
That's how the Odessa physics teacher Pavel Viktor took the prize of audience sympathy. He became the best in the "Ukrainians' Choice" nomination at the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine-2021 national award and was the only teacher from the Odesa region.
More than 23 thousand people voted for Pavel.
The man teaches physics at the Odesa Ryshelyevsky Lyceum.
"I am happy that I can work not only among children in my class, but also have the opportunity to teach physics to anyone who wants it," said Pavel Viktor.
He also created a YouTube channel with a physics course, which has almost a million subscribers.
This year, the award was presented for the fifth time.
The winner will receive 300 hryvnias, a trip to the most educational event of the Global Education and Skills Forum, as well as professional development and support for the implementation of educational projects from the organizer of the award, the public union "Osvytoria".
The Global Teacher Prize is the so-called "Nobel" prize for teachers. In 2017, the public union "Osvytoria" established the national prize Global Teacher Prize Ukraine. Its purpose is to increase the prestige of the teaching profession, to tell the Ukrainian history of innovative teachers. The slogan of the award is "Teachers are important."
