In a few days, more than 3 signatures were collected in Odessa under a petition addressed to the city council demanding that Sergei Kivalov be deprived of the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Odessa".
As noted on his Facebook page, one of the organizers of the collection of signatures - public figure Svyatoslav Ogrenchuk, caring citizens came to the "Honorable Liar" campaign.
"The goal of our action is to draw the attention of Odessa residents to the ungodly act of Sergei Vasilievich Kivalov and to collect at least five thousand signatures in the name of the secretary of the Odessa City Council, so that he can bring two draft decisions to the session. The first decision is about updating the procedure for conferring the title of Honorary Citizen of Odessa, namely, today there is a procedure for conferring this high title, but, alas, for some reason there is no procedure for disqualification for behavior that discredits the territorial community, for violating the Constitution and laws of Ukraine. The second decision is about depriving Sergey Vasilievich Kyvalov of the title of Honorary Citizen of Odessa for his scam with the parish school, and it would be more correct to say - for blasphemy. After all, it is unacceptable for a person to so cynically deceive Orthodox people and the city government. Sergey Kivalov promised the Orthodox people of Odessa and the city government to build a parish school, in which education will be free, if the city government allocates 1,3 hectares of land to him for construction at the Mezhreisova base of sailors on preferential terms. Sergey Vasilievich received land on super preferential terms and built a school, only not a free church-parochial one, but a very expensive one: elite and private., Svyatoslav Ogrenchuk noted.
As a reminder, the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Odessa" was awarded to Sergey Kyvalov on June 15, 2004 at the request of the staff of the Odessa Law Academy.
