The European Union promises to prosecute those guilty of war crimes in Ukraine after a video of the execution of a Ukrainian soldier appeared online.

Such a statement was made by the press secretary of the EU, Nabila Masrali, commenting on the brutal video of the killing of a Ukrainian soldier.

"The EU confirms its firm commitment to bring to justice all perpetrators and facilitators of war crimes committed in connection with Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine," Massraly said.

Her announcement comes in response to two videos posted on social media showing decapitated Ukrainian soldiers.

"If this is confirmed, it is another brutal reminder of the inhuman nature of Russian aggression. The killing of prisoners of war is a very serious violation of the Geneva Convention and once again demonstrates Russia's complete disregard for international law, in particular international humanitarian law," the press secretary emphasized.

Representatives of various countries have also reacted to the video.

"Russian military and thugs of the Wagner group are worse than ISIS", — wrote Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkevičs.

"The evil empire has been reborn in the East. Russian barbarians threaten not only Ukraine. They threaten all of Europe and the entire free world. This is not an accident, not the impulse of a maniac. Putin spent 23 years building his evil empire, preparing for this conflict. New Europe understands this. It's time for old Europe to understand this too," — said Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki.

"The British government has united countries to support the ICC in opening a criminal case against Russian killers in Ukraine. We will not forget", — wrote the British Minister of State for Security Tom Tugendhat.

"Offended by the brutal video of the killing of a Ukrainian prisoner of war by a Russian soldier. Responsibility and justice must prevail over terror and impunity. The EU will do everything possible to ensure this. The EU will continue to support Ukraine as long as necessary." - noted the President of the European Council, Charles. Michelle
