The US authorities still have not issued visas to the Russian delegation led by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov. He is supposed to chair the UN Security Council meeting in New York in April, but the US has not yet issued permission for the arrival of the special aircraft and visas for the Russian delegation.
This was stated by the Russian ambassador to the USA, Anatoliy Antonov, reports CNN.
"We call on Washington not to delay the issuance of visas to our delegation, including our journalists. The refusal to issue visas violates the obligations of the United States as the host country of the UN headquarters, hindering the proper, full functioning of the world organization," said Antonov.
The Russian diplomat also complained that the US did not agree to the arrival of the plane with the Russian delegation.
"We expect the Americans to promptly issue permission for the plane (to enter US airspace) without any conditions or restrictions," he said.
It should be clarified that according to the rules of the work of the United Nations, the United States, as a host country of this organization, is obliged to issue visas to members of the delegations of any countries participating in the work of the United Nations, regardless of the nature of bilateral relations.
