About 675 Ukrainian refugees in Poland are not going to return to Ukraine

About 675 Ukrainian refugees in Poland are not going to return to Ukraine, - Gremi Personal.

38% of Ukrainian refugees will remain in Poland, 7% plan to move from Poland to another country, 55% will return to Ukraine.

Among them, 82% of Ukrainians who plan to return say that they will come to Ukraine after the victory. 8% said they were going home this spring, 6% planned to return in the summer, and 4% in the fall.

Such a survey was conducted by the analytical center of the international employment company Gremi Personal, in which 1270 Ukrainians living in Poland participated as of February 24. The survey was conducted in March this year.

The mood of Ukrainians has changed significantly over the past six months. In October 2022, only 17% of respondents answered that they did not plan to return to Ukraine, 22,4% intended to go home in the next 3 months, 35% were preparing to stay in Poland for at least a year, and 25,6% planned to return as soon as it was over war.

"The number of Ukrainians who do not plan to return home has doubled in six months. This may indicate a number of factors. Some people have nowhere to return to, mostly people from the East and South of Ukraine, whose homes were destroyed by the Russian invaders. Many people have already adapted to Poland, got a job and sent their children to Polish schools. Some women have built relationships with Poles and don't want to part anymore," says Anna Jobolda, director of Gremi Personal's recruitment department.

The agency also notes that an important factor influencing Ukrainians' plans to stay is the opening of Ukrainian businesses in Poland. Since the second half of last year, more than 10 Ukrainian companies have opened in Poland, seeking to hire Ukrainians. Therefore, highly qualified specialists, who were forced to work in menial jobs because of the war, have the opportunity to hold good positions and receive Polish salaries.

The majority of Ukrainians who have been in Poland for a long time learn or have already learned the Polish language, which also opens up new horizons in the employment market. A survey conducted in March of this year shows that only 10% of Ukrainians do not want to learn the Polish language, the same number said that they have already learned it perfectly. 30% of respondents can already communicate freely, and 50% are in the process of learning, but admit that it is difficult for them.

Poland has taken in the most Ukrainians of any country since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. About 2 million Ukrainians live here. 1,5 million of our citizens received a PESEL identification number. And according to the data of the ZUS social insurance department, 739 Ukrainians are already officially employed.
