Mac Studio and the M2 Ultra chip

The second novelty of WWDC 2023 was the Mac Studio computer based on the M2 processor and the new M2 Ultra chip, here according to the classics: the chip is 20% faster than the M1 Ultra, and the graphics are 30% better. There are no super big changes.

The price of Mac Studio starts at $1999.

M2 Ultra — "the most powerful chip ever created for a computer," said Apple.

The M2 Ultra processor is equipped with 24 cores and up to 76 video cores. The chip includes 134 billion transistors.

Mac Pro

Apple introduced a professional Mac Pro computer based on the M2 Ultra processor.

The price of Mac Pro starts at $6999. The company will start sales next week, and pre-orders will be available as early as June 5.

iOS 17

Apple has updated the Phone app with the ability to customize the call screen.

Setting up the call screen is similar to setting up the lock screen, Apple said.

Apple added filters in iMessage search and several other functions, such as decoding audio messages.

In iOS 17, iMessage users will be able to automatically send messages to other people that they have successfully reached their destination.

Apple redesigned the stickers on iMessage, and also made all the emojis into stickers. In addition, support for stickers has appeared throughout the system, including in third-party programs.

AirDrop technology in iOS 17 got support for the NameDrop function, which allows you to share a phone number by simply bringing one device to another. This option also works with Apple Watch.

In iOS 17, Apple improved autocorrect in the standard iPhone keyboard. This option has become better at learning from the words that the user types, as well as accurately suggesting the next words to type. Whether this option will support the Russian language is still unclear.

Dictation has also been improved in the standard keyboard.

Macs running macOS 14 will support widgets from other devices. At the same time, the user does not have to install programs to use these widgets.

Update for AirPods

At WWDC, Apple introduced the mode AirPods adaptive sound. In it, the headphones will automatically adjust the noise reduction and "transparency" mode depending on the environment.

For example, if an iPhone owner is listening to music on AirPods and another person approaches him and starts talking, adaptive mode will automatically lower the volume on the headphones. At the same time, the function will not muffle the music, if it is only about the surrounding sounds.

AirPods' adaptive mode will use neural networks to gradually learn the user's habits.

tvOS

Apple TV will have an improved Control Center and support for FaceTime.

iPhone owners will be able to start a FaceTime conversation on the iPhone and continue on the Apple TV, while using the smartphone's main camera to take pictures.

Watch 10

Apple introduced watchOS 10 — a major operating system update for Apple Watch.

In watchOS 10, it will be possible to get quick access to widgets by pressing the Digital Crown wheel. The option will be supported on all watch faces.

Vision Pro augmented reality headset

At the end of the presentation, as "One More Thing", Apple introduced its own headset augmented reality. Cook called the device a "revolutionary product" and "the most personal gadget" in the company's history. Apple has been developing Vision Pro for years and has been carefully preparing for its release.

Vision Pro users will be able to control the device using gestures, voice and eye movements. The gadget will allow you to use many Apple programs, including those already familiar to iPhone and Mac owners. Third-party programs will also be supported, and directly on the release.

Vision Pro has the first full 3D interface developed by Apple. The company said that this interface really feels real when using the headset.

In Vision Pro, you can open several applications that will be located next to each other in a virtual three-dimensional space.

There is a Digital Crown wheel on the Vision Pro body, with which, among other things, you can adjust the position of the windows, including the depth in space.

Vision Pro does not require controllers. The device reacts to the movement of hands, fingers and eyes.

AR headset supports the EyeSight function, which displays the user's eyes on the body when a person communicates with someone outside the virtual space.

The device will show people approaching in the real world if they approach the Vision Pro user during operation.

Apple showed several usage scenarios VisionPro. Yes, owners of the device will be able to work in the Safari browser, opening many links.

Vision Pro glasses support three-dimensional objects inside the virtual space.

Vision Pro owners will be able to look at your MacBook screen and transfer the laptop screen into the virtual space to offer work already there.
