The next 12-15 months promise to be rich in new Macs. Apple will stretch the releases throughout the year, but the most saturated period will be 2025.
Authoritative journalist and insider Mark Gurman previously spoke about new Macs with M4 chips. Now he is posted a more accurate schedule of the release of devices. Here's the order in which Apple will release Macs:
— Inexpensive 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 chip - late 2024.
— 24-inch iMac with M4 — late 2024.
— 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro/Max chips - late 2024/early 2025.
— Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro chips - late 2024/early 2025.
— 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air with M4 chip - spring 2025.
— Mac Studio with M4 chip - mid-2025.
— Mac Pro with M4 Ultra chip – second half of 2025.
Gurman said that Apple has conducted internal testing of the M3 Ultra chip, which will be suitable for the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, but he said that "pretty sure at least some high end Apple computers" will skip the M3 series chip. Apple will focus on the artificial intelligence capabilities of the M4 chip series.
It is already known that the main improvements in the M4 series chipsets will be related to the functions of artificial intelligence (AI). In addition, the new chip will offer significantly improved performance and energy efficiency.
What novelties to expect from Apple by the end of 2024
At the beginning of May, Apple will finally present new tablets, and both releases, if rumors are to be believed, will be significant: iPad Pro will get OLED panels instead of LCD for the first time, and the Air family will for the first time ever come in two sizes and get a new 12,9-inch diagonal.
A month later, in June, the presentation of iOS 18 and other OSes will take place. iOS 18 is expected to bring "the biggest update in iPhone history." If we are lucky, WWDC 2024 will also show some iron novelties, but we will find out about it already in the summer.
And in September, the iPhone 16 will be announced. Almost everything is already known about them: one more button on the body, an enlarged display in the "holes" and a record number of colors. At the same time, the new Apple Watch and AirPods will be released.
