At the exhibition Weapons and Security - 2021 in Kyiv on Tuesday, June 15, the new Ukrainian combat drone ACE ONE was presented.
"There have never been such drones in Ukraine or in the world. ACE ONE is #1 in its class of combat drones that can carry weapons up to 1 ton. It is developed on the basis of the latest technologies — Stealth. Due to this, as well as its flat wing shape, the drone is virtually invisible to radars and difficult to detect. The speed of ACE ONE is close to supersonic. This is 1000 km/h. Management is carried out with the help of an artificial intelligence system that can control a swarm of such drones," said one of the designers and project managers, Alexander Los.
The second head of the project, Vladimir Usov, noted that the drone is intended for the defense of the airspace of Ukraine.
"If, for example, a reconnaissance drone flies into the territory of Ukraine, ACE ONE, which is much faster and more powerful in all its characteristics, approaches it and destroys it. Also, ACE ONE is used for a quick dash to the enemy's territory, performing an operation and returning to the ground station," explained Usov.
It is noted that 25 Ukrainian scientists and specialists in the aerospace industry worked on the development of the UAV. The chief designers of the project are the former president of Antonov Alexander Los and the former head of the GKAU, a member of the International Academy of Cosmonautics, Vladimir Usov.
It should be noted that recently an event took place in the world that can completely change the wars of the current century - a drone killed a person for the first time by itself, without an order.
The combat drone, being in full autonomous mode of operation, attacked people. This first recorded case in history, when a drone without a human command committed a murder, occurred in Libya in March of last year, but this became known only now from the UN report.
Such weapon systems are considered one of the most dangerous military technologies currently being developed. Astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, the head of Tesla, Elon Musk, and thousands of other scientists and engineers spoke against autonomous combat vehicles.
