The head of the Center for Public Health, Igor Kuzyn, predicts that Ukraine will most likely receive the Astra Zeneka coronavirus vaccine.
He reminded that the effectiveness of Astra Zeneka vaccine is estimated at 70%, while Pfizer / BioNTech — 95%, Moderna — 94%.
But the last two must be stored at a temperature of -60 / -80° C, and the third — from +2 to + 8° C.
"At the same time, there are many vaccines that are in the final phase of clinical trials. Which vaccine we will receive will depend on the time frame in which the production of this vaccine will take place. According to the information we have, Pfizer plans to produce 50 million doses of vaccines by the end of 2020, Moderna — 20 million doses, and Astra Zeneka — 100 million doses. When we sent the request for COVAX, we took into account the storage conditions that we can afford, therefore, given the production capacity, there is hope that we will receive the vaccine from Astra Zeneka. But we will be able to get an accurate answer to which manufacturer's vaccine will be delivered to Ukraine under the COVAX program only in January 2021," said Kuzyn.
We remind you that it was previously Astra Zeneka signed a memorandum on cooperation in the fight against the coronavirus with the National Research Center named after N. F. Gamalea and the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
After signing the document, the parties announced the start of joint clinical trials of the combination of the Russian "Sputnik V" and the drug AZD1222, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University.
