Today, the Odessa National Art Museum is 122 years old. The process of changes and modernization of the museum continues.
So this year the museum received the status of national. It became known that he will be given new premises for the expansion of archival and exhibition funds. And the main building of the museum, the famous Potocki Palace, is awaiting major renovation.
"We are happy about this, but most of all we are glad that all these 122 years we have been with you - citizens who support us every day, help us participate in the formation of the community and develop. The residents of Odessa have something to be proud of, because it was the citizens who founded one of the first museums in Ukraine with their own hands 122 years ago," the press service of the museum reported.
Over the past couple of years, the Odessa Art Museum has become one of the most visited museums in the country. His collection has been replenished by almost 1 exhibits - these are gifts from contemporary artists, patrons, collectors, as well as a large part of Alexander Roitburd's own collection.
Thus, the focus of the museum exposition changed from the local art school to the all-Ukrainian circle of outstanding artists.
Note that the Odessa National Art Museum is one of the main art galleries of the city of Odessa. Founded in 1899, it occupies the Potocki Palace, which is an architectural monument of the early 19th century.
