Founded in 1885, the Second Christian Cemetery has been the resting place of famous and not-so-famous Odessans for more than a century. According to some data, half a million people found their last refuge here. Although the cemetery is officially closed, people continue to be buried there.

At the main entrance, burials from the times of the Russian Empire have been preserved, mainly in the central alleys, the graves of famous figures of culture, science, education, medicine, sportsmen, soldiers and sailors, public and state figures. In the "Catholic" part, the participants of the uprising are buried on the battleship "Prince Potemkin". Along the fence to the left of the central entrance, there are many pre-war Jewish burial grounds, "Wives' Alley", where tragically dead sailors are buried.
