The losses of the Russian army during the two years of the war became an absolute record, - Kovalenko

Kovalenko

Military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko presented an analysis of the losses of the Russian army during the two years of the war.

The invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine became the most unsuccessful and shameful campaign for Russia in its entire existence. The losses of the occupying forces are already considered the largest not only in the history of the Russian Federation, but also of the USSR after the Second World War. Moreover, the uniqueness lies in the fact that in certain months the Russian army lost as many personnel or tanks as there are not even in the armies of some NATO countries.

Oleksandr Kovalenko, military and political columnist of the Information Resistance group, in his blog, explained analytics regarding the losses of the Russian army during the two years of the war and its consequences for the enemy and Ukraine.

Personnel losses

December 2023 - 29 people - was the record number of Russian personnel losses during the two years of the full-scale war against Ukraine. November 970 – 2023 – was second in terms of the number of destroyed occupiers, and January 28550 – 2024 was the third.

That is, it was three months of very hard work on the manpower of the enemy, who tried to advance in difficult weather conditions, as well as experiencing problems with staffing units, having a shortage of professional officers and personnel.

All this led to such a record-breaking end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 in terms of losses in personnel of the Russian occupation forces.

Tank losses

The occupiers lost the most tanks in October 2023 – 521. This is, for example, 2,5 times more than the number of tanks in service in Great Britain.

It was then that the offensive of the occupiers on Avdiivka began. Hundreds of pieces of equipment were thrown at the breakthrough of the fortified area. The first wave of the offensive failed miserably, and the number of main battle tanks lost exceeded a hundred in the area of this city alone.

The following assault actions in the direction of Avdiivka did not contain such a number of MBTs, which was due to the impossibility of compensating losses so quickly.

Taking into account the length of the front and the area of Avdiyivka itself in relation to the forces and means used by the occupiers at that time, this tank breakthrough can be considered the most shameful in the history of wars and conflicts - and this is also a record in its own way.

BBM losses

The Russian occupiers lost the most armored combat vehicles in March 2022 – 889. This is more than, for example, the VBCI BBM in service with the French army.

Since that month, there have been several approaches to this indicator (in May 2022 – 872 and in October 2023 – 843), but they could not surpass the first, full month of resistance to the occupiers.

The Russian airborne troops will remember the hellish March of 2022 for a long time. Although, to be honest, almost no one remembers him there.

Currently, there are fewer and fewer BBMs in the combat zone, since the Russian military-industrial complex is unable to compensate for losses at the level of monthly needs. It follows from this that it is unlikely that the March record of 2022 will ever be broken.

Losses of barrel artillery

The Russian occupying forces lost the most barrel artillery in September 2023 - 947. This is more than the Italian army has in service.

This indicator was a consequence of the deterioration of the quality of the artillery systems supplied to the RIV, among which an increasing number of towed howitzers, removed from conservation, began to dominate. Low accuracy, lack of mobility, short range of defeating targets - all this affected the loss indicators. And it will be marked in the future.

Losses of RSZV

July 2023 — 67 — was the record for the loss of multiple-launch rocket systems in the Russian army. It was very close to November — 66 and September — 63. In general, 2023 was an indicative year when MLRS began to be used as carelessly as possible. collision and playing the functionality of barrel artillery. This was due to a shortage of CA, especially distant.

That is, there was a clear deterioration of supplies and loss compensation with attempts to solve the problem in unusual and very risky ways.

Air defense losses

The Russian occupiers lost the most air defenses in July 2023 - 73. This was the height of the offensive of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region. And in order to reduce the work of UAVs and Ukrainian aviation along the line of combat, the Russians moved their funds closer to the risk zone.

Thanks to these actions, we were able to significantly weaken their air defense component in July 2023, not only in the combat zone, but also in Russia itself. After all, in order to compensate for the losses, the occupiers had to drop anti-aircraft missiles from the territory of the Russian Federation - thus exposing the internal Russian airspace.

Motor vehicle losses

The record of vehicle losses of the occupying forces was recorded in January 2024 - 937. In December 2023, it was only six less - 931.

Such losses are due to the fact that the occupiers increasingly use non-specialized equipment in the combat zone, which is easier to destroy and more easily damaged. Sometimes they even try to use it in units to replace the BBM functionality on a full-time basis.

All this indicates that the indicators of these losses will continue to grow. Unless there is another occasion - fuel shortage. And then most of the transport will stop at the RVV.

Losses of special equipment

The specific category, which set an absolute record in January 2024, is 185 units.

And this is absolutely not surprising, considering how much equipment the Russian occupiers lost during the Avdiiv offensive and the desire of the command to evacuate at least some of this equipment for repair.

Pidsumok

As we can see, the Russian army in Ukraine suffered not only the largest historical losses, but also reputational losses. In Europe, they saw how a military machine, seemingly with unlimited resources, lost as much equipment per month as had never been in service with some NATO countries.

Each of these episodes clearly shows how desperate and uncompromising the struggle for the survival of the nation is in Ukraine and how many resources, both human and technical, Russia spares to destroy this nation.
