Authorities in the South Korean city of Cheongju have requested information on 8520 customers suspected of tax evasion from seven cryptocurrency exchanges, including Upbit and Bithumb. It is reported mystsev ZMI.
If the suspicions are confirmed, the cryptoassets found on their balance will be confiscated for the benefit of the state.
Recall that in July, the South Korean government launched a unit to fight cryptocurrency crimes, including tax evasion, unauthorized transfers and money laundering.
From January 2024, FCS will oblige firms to disclose data on the presence of digital assets on the balance sheet.
