The Pentagon announced Russia's attempts to disrupt the work of Starlink in Ukraine

The US intends to create its own network of government communication satellites in space

Russia is trying to jam the Starlink communication in Ukraine, but without success, the commander of the space forces of the United States of America, General Chance Salzman, said in an interview The Washington Post.

Salzman said that US space defenses are currently vulnerable, as most of their intelligence and communications capabilities are based on a few satellites that could be easy prey.

The US intends to create its own network of government satellites in space for communications and other purposes, similar to Starlink. The first 10 satellites were launched in April, 18 more will be sent by the end of the year, 160 next year, and the global goal is to put up to 1000 satellites into low Earth orbit.

In this deployment of low-orbit satellites, the US space force is following the small satellite revolution started by the Starlink constellation launched by Elon Musk's SpaceX, the general added.

According to Saltzman, spreading such an array of satellites "is a much more difficult problem."

"In fact, we are observing the consequences of this in Ukraine with the help of the Starlink constellation. The Russians are trying to suppress him, but without success."

Space is now inevitably an area of potential conflict. The mission, Salzman bluntly said, is "superiority in space — to protect ours, to repel them." We have a Cosmic Force and it needs to get bigger and more powerful to do its job.
