About 355 Ukrainian courts, almost 47% of their total number in the country, stopped sending notifications by mail due to lack of funding for correspondence. Court representatives recommend tracking information about hearings online.
This was announced on Wednesday, December 9, by the open data monitoring system Opendatabot.
"The situation has developed due to the lack of state funding. The budget includes UAH 445 million for sending court correspondence, while more than UAH 1,2 billion needs to be spent on sending summonses. Almost half - 355 - courts in Ukraine will not send notifications by mail. This is about 47% of the total number of courts in the state," the representatives of the project said. In Opendabote, they said that the Ivano-Frankivsk court was one of the first to stop sending summonses. Every month, he spent 75 thousand hryvnias on these needs, while the amount allocated for this in the budget is three times less (about 25 thousand hryvnias).
"Then the representatives of the court recommended tracking information about court sessions with the help of Opendatabot. Now, similar situations are happening all over Ukraine: 445 million UAH are allocated in the budget for sending court correspondence, while more than 1,2 billion UAH need to be spent on sending summons," added the representatives of the system.
In connection with the situation, Opendatabote stated that they published summary data, according to court websites, current as of December 9.
