During the general mobilization in Ukraine, students, graduate students and doctoral students have a deferment from mobilization for the duration of their studies, however, there are conditions under which students can be mobilized.
Thus, the text of Article 23 of the Law on mobilization training and mobilization refers to the right to postponement of persons who receive education during full-time education. "Professional (vocational and technical), professional higher and higher education, trainee assistants, graduate students and doctoral students who study full-time or dual forms of education," the law states.
Although this year, students of full-time and dual forms of education of Ukrainian and foreign educational institutions should not be called up during mobilization.
Will students be mobilized in 2023?
Those students who are temporarily not enrolled in the student body after completing their bachelor's degree can be called up for service during mobilization. This also applies to those who enroll for a master's degree, but they have not yet officially received their education.
Who is not mobilized during training
- Men and women who receive pre-higher and higher education on a full-time basis cannot be mobilized:
- pupils and students of vocational schools and colleges
- students of colleges, universities, institutes, academies
- graduate students and doctoral students of research institutions, institutions of higher education of III-IV levels of accreditation, who received the right to study graduate students and doctoral students
- trainee assistants.
Who can be mobilized during training
The deferral for students during the 2023 mobilization only applies to full-time or dual-degree students. Postponement does not apply to extramural students. This mainly applies to university students, because there is no correspondence form of study in postgraduate and doctoral studies.
