The Verkhovna Rada proposes to amend the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses regarding certain issues of strengthening the legal protection of military personnel. It is proposed to add a corresponding article to it. Draft law made public on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
Violators may be fined or arrested. This is stated in the card of the draft law, its initiator is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, representative of the President in the Verkhovna Rada, Fedir Venislavskyi.
"The purpose and task of adopting this draft law is to strengthen the legal protection of military personnel by establishing the legal responsibility of citizens for the manifestation of such negative phenomena as malicious disobedience, insults, abusive clinging in relations with military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, preventing them from exercising their rights, and as well as prevention of such negative phenomena in society," says the explanatory note to the project.
Thus, in Ukraine, they want to introduce punishment for disrespecting the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations, the State Security Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Security Service, the State Special Service of Transport, the State Special Service, the National Guard, and the State Security Service.
Punishments are proposed for "disrespect that manifested itself in a publicly displayed insult, in offensively clinging to the military or in preventing them from exercising their rights and freedoms."
What responsibility is provided
For disrespecting the military, it is proposed to impose a fine of 3400 to 5100 hryvnias and an administrative fine for a period of up to 15 days. It is also suggested that such citizens be drawn to public works for a period of 50 to 60 hours, correctional works for a period of 1 to 2 months with deduction of 20% of earnings, or community service for a period of 240 to 360 days.
