Our guest today is Serhiy Shutov, founder of the "Noble Cause" charity fund and an entrepreneur. Before the war, he was engaged in mass social activities for children from shelters and poor families.
«We tried to make their childhood happier, and we succeeded," says Serhiy. But after the start of a full-scale war, he did not stay away from the troubles that befell Ukrainians, and very successfully began to engage in volunteerism and charity.
ABOUT THE FIRST STEPS IN VOLUNTEERING
It all started for me when, on February 24, I was on my way to Kyiv for work and a rocket flew near Uman. It was very scary, and then I asked the question - what can I do in such a situation, who and what can I help and how can I be useful for my country?
First of all, there was the question of help with uniforms for soldiers. Many acquaintances were urgently called to the Armed Forces, and they started asking me to help with uniforms and body armor - because in peaceful life I was engaged in sewing production. In a few days, we converted all our workshops to work with heavy fabric and began sewing tactical first aid kits, plate carriers and uniforms. This is how we provided the necessary supplies to all our friends and acquaintances in the Armed Forces, then began to help the territorial defense of the city, etc. This is how my volunteer activity began.
ABOUT YOUR TEAM
My team consists of completely diverse people, lawyers, lawyers, designers, entrepreneurs, teachers, managers. These are all friends and acquaintances united by one common goal – to do what we can to help the country and our Victory. This is how our charitable foundation "Noble Cause" was born.
ABOUT THE DIRECTIONS OF THE FUND'S WORK
We've expanded over the months as people come in for different kinds of help. And if at the beginning we helped the military with uniforms and ammunition, today we help pensioners, low-income people and immigrants. Most of them are food and basic necessities.
An important issue is funds for the fund's work, which are always needed and every penny is important. These are both personal savings and help from acquaintances from all over the world. In addition, foreign organizations and foundations help us with humanitarian goods, mainly food, medicine and hygiene products.
ABOUT THE DIFFICULTIES OF VOLUNTEERING
For me, the most difficult thing is to wake up with the thought that people need your help, and you don't always have the opportunity to help them. But we are looking for any way to help people with their problems. The war united us and showed that there are many good people in Ukraine.
HOW NOT TO MAKE A MISTAKE WITH THE CHOICE OF A FUND
The first thing to do is to ask the question - which organization does not just talk, but actually really helps people. The second is to check her documentation and the third is to come to their office and see the work in person, get to know and talk to people from this organization and find those people whom she really helped.
HOW TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER
As for volunteering, it is primarily a personal challenge for a person. Are you ready to sacrifice your time, personal or family resources for another person? This is the main question, and if a person answers to himself that he is ready, then let him try, let him do it.
INTERACTION WITH PARTNERS
We cooperate with many funds from different directions. First of all, it is "Unbreakable Odesa" by Mykhailo Sosnovsky, "The Good Samaritan", "You are Ukraine" and many others. The main thing is that all people and organizations with whom we work are focused on a constructive and unified result, and make all possible efforts for our joint Victory.
