Ukraine intends to gain membership in NATO and the European Union within 5-10 years, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said in an interview with the Lithuanian publication LRT, the translation of which published on Thursday, July 8, on the Government portal.
"Ukraine aspires to join the EU and NATO in the near future, we aim to obtain membership within 5-10 years," said the prime minister and emphasized that this step depends not only on Ukraine, but also on other countries.
At the same time, the head of the government noted that the movement of official Kyiv towards EU membership does not stop and that an important issue for the European future of Ukraine remains the consistent implementation of reforms.
Shmyhal reminded that the EU has already become the main trading partner of Ukraine.
"We continue to work in the context of Ukraine's integration into the digital and energy markets, we are working on signing "industrial", "aviation" and "customs" visa-free visas," he added.
Let us remind you that announcing the terms of Ukraine's entry into the EU is a favorite pastime of our politicians. Every new president and prime minister promises to soon join the European Union. And so it has been for three decades.
