In Georgia, the leader of the ruling party, Ivanishvili, announced his retirement from politics

Today he distributed an open letter with a corresponding message

The founder and leader of the ruling Georgian Dream party, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, announced his decision to leave politics and the party. Today he distributed an open letter with a corresponding message.

This is reported by "Novosti-Gruzia".

"I think my mission is accomplished. I have made the decision to permanently leave politics and completely remove myself from management. I am leaving the post of the head of the party, as well as the party itself, and will return to the private way of life that I had before 2011," Ivanishvili said in an open letter.

In his opinion, the ruling team is "the best and without alternative" among the political forces existing in Georgia today.

"The ruling team is indeed the best and without alternative among all the political actors existing today by all criteria. I am confident that the team, staffed by these people, will be able to adequately replace my work, authority and skills," the letter says.

According to Ivanishvili, if one objectively analyzes the electoral success of "Georgian Dream", one can say without exaggeration that it is expected and logical.

The billionaire also reminded that soon he will be 65 years old, so he considers it correct to promote young people to political posts.

"In just a few weeks I will be 65 years old, this is also one of the most important factors in my decision to end my political career. This is my step, which is dictated by the advancement of youth... People were able to see my efforts, which I made only in the interests of the country and the state. I am confident that the Georgian people will also appreciate my today's step... ", Ivanishvili's letter emphasizes.

It should be noted that in 2012, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili won the parliamentary elections of the party of the third president, Mikheil Saakashvili, "United National Movement", after uniting the opposition around him.

In November 2012, Ivanishvili became the country's prime minister. An hour after the victory of the candidate from his party, Georgy Margvelashvili, in the 2013 presidential elections, Ivanishvili resigned and declared that he was "leaving politics and entering the civil sector."

After Ivanishvili, Iraklii Garibashvili, close to the billionaire's family, became the prime minister of Georgia for two years. Then the government changed four prime ministers, the appointment and resignation of which, according to the opposition and the majority of political scientists, also directly originate from Ivanishvili. After numerous criticisms of the country's governance from behind the scenes of Ivanishvili after a five-year hiatus, in May 2018 the official headed the ruling party and became its head.
