Commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline (SP-2) will be frozen. This was stated by the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Burbock.
The decision to suspend the certification was made against the background of the Russian Federation's recognition of the independence of the "LPR" and "DPR".
"In recent weeks, together with our international partners, we have prepared a package of sanctions, which we are issuing now — it includes individual sanctions, financial sanctions, and economic sanctions. In addition to this, the German government also immediately froze Nord Stream 2, the minister said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also confirmed this. He said that the certification of the Russian gas pipeline "Nord Stream - 2" will be suspended. According to him, the certification process cannot be continued against the background of the actions of the Russian side.
Dmitry Medvedev, a member of the Council of the Security Council of Russia, has already threatened Europe with a price of 2000 euros per thousand cubes after Germany imposed sanctions against Nord Stream 2.
