"The results of the war remain and will remain unchanged": the president of Azerbaijan commented on the events in Armenia

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said that what is happening in Yerevan is an internal matter of Armenia

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that what is happening in Yerevan is an internal matter of Armenia, and expressed the hope that these events will not affect the implementation of the tripartite statement on Karabakh, which he signed with the leaders of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Russia Vladimir Putin on November 9.

"Events in Armenia are Armenia's internal affairs... Today, Armenia is in such a difficult situation that the processes taking place there are shaking the foundations of the country's statehood to a great extent," Aliyev said at a press conference on Friday.

"The results of the war remain and will remain unchanged. And the application signed on November 10 (November 9 Moscow time) is executed and must be fully executed. Most of the provisions of this application have already been implemented. But there are questions that are now the subject of discussion. I hope that, despite the situation in Armenia, the application signed on November 10 will be implemented," he said.

The president added that Yerevan faces "not a very big choice". "They must come to terms with the new reality. We have created a new reality. The most acceptable choice for Armenia now is to implement the provisions of the three-way statement from November 10," Aliyev emphasized.

Azerbaijan will act immediately if it sees any intentions of Armenia to arrange a rematch.

"Another mandatory condition for long-term peace is a clear understanding in Armenia, in Armenian political circles, that any intentions of revenge will be severely punished by Azerbaijan. There is no doubt about it, we will not hesitate for a minute if we see danger for us again. If we analyze a significant danger, we will act immediately," Aliyev said.

In Armenia on Thursday, February 25, mass actions of opponents and supporters of Pashinyan began, after the General Staff of the Armed Forces issued a statement stating that the military demanded his resignation. The statement was signed by Chief of the General Staff Onyk Gasparyan, his deputies, heads of departments and corps.

Pashinyan regarded this as a request for a military coup and announced his decision to dismiss the Chief of the General Staff. The country's president, Armen Sargsyan, who, according to the constitution, appoints and dismisses the chief of the General Staff on the proposal of the prime minister, has not yet signed the documents. Activists of the opposition Movement for the Salvation of the Family spent the night from Thursday to Friday in tents near the parliament building. They are planning new rallies.
