From January 15, 2021, the Russian-flagged pipe-laying vessel Fortuna can begin laying Nord Stream 2 in the Danish exclusive economic zone.
This was reported by the Danish Shipping Agency and the project company Nord Stream 2 AG.
We are talking about the laying of two strands of the gas pipeline from the point opposite the southern end of Bornholm Island to the border of the Danish and German exclusive economic zones.
In addition to "Fortuna", construction vessels "Baltiyskiy issledevna" and "Murman", as well as other supply vessels, will be involved in the work.
During the operation of the Fortuna pipe-layer, a temporary restricted zone with a radius of 1,5 miles (2,8 km) is created around it, and 500 m when the Baltic Explorer and Murman vessels are operating, when they signal "restricted maneuverability".
Unauthorized navigation, diving, anchoring, fishing and work on the seabed will be prohibited in this zone.
The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline by European construction companies was suspended an hour ago after the adoption of the US military budget for the next hour, in which the legislators included a ban on contractors providing services for the construction of the marine highway.
After that, the Russian side engaged in the completion of the gas pipeline by its own forces. Two weeks ago, the pipe-laying company "Fortuna" began to complete the construction of a 2,6-kilometer section of the highway in the exclusive economic zone of Germany.
At the moment, more than 2460 km of the approximately 2300 km gas pipeline has been laid (that is, 94%)
