Odesa karateka, Anzhelika Terlyuga, silver medalist of the 2020 Olympic Games won the title of Grandwinner of the Premier League of the 2020-2021 season in the category up to 55 kg. This was reported in the press service of the branch of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
We note that Terlyuga is the only Ukrainian athlete who was awarded this award.
The title is awarded based on the results of the Premier League season. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 seasons were combined, so the best karate players were determined based on the results of seven tournaments in two years.
During this period, the woman from Odessa took part in six tournaments, in which she won three (Santiago, series A; Dubai, Lisbon - Premier League), and won medals in two more (silver - Paris, VL; bronze - Istanbul, PL).
Let us remind you that Terlyuga brought Odessa region the only medal at the 2020 Olympic Games.
This is her third Grandwinner title. She won the first in 2017, the second in 2019.
Holders of this title received the right to wear a kimono with gold embroidery at all competitions of the Premier League next year.
