Vitalyna Bibliv: the audience's love is more important than the name

The editors of "ElitExpert" met with the famous Ukrainian theater and cinema actress Vitalyna Bibliv. The reason for the meeting is more important: recently she was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Artist of Ukraine". Vitalyna told the correspondent of our publication about this and many other things.

Do titles, awards, and prizes mean anything to you?

Of course, I am very pleased that I was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine, but for me it has no special meaning - the love of the audience is much more important. Rather, it is very important for mom. She was very happy. And when my mother is happy, I am happy too.

The pandemic and quarantine forced us all to reconsider our attitude to life. As a theatrical person, you directly felt all the limitations. What did you have to give up, what things did you look at from the other side, how did you spend your time while the theater was waiting for its audience?

The pandemic forced us to look at life from the other side. What happened to me during the pandemic? I lost 4 kilograms (smiles). In general, I had a lot of work: despite the fact that the theater was closed, we supported our audience. We filmed all kinds of videos, read monologues, acted out skits, met on live broadcasts, plus I had dubbing. In the studio, thank God, it was possible for more than one person to gather... Actually, my quarantine was fun.

Do you think that every actor dreams of a role that he wants to play? Do you have one? And what kind of role would you definitely refuse?

I don't even know what role I would refuse. Probably, everything about death, violence, maniacs. What would you like to play? "Passions under the Elms" based on the play by Eugene O'Neill, there is a wonderful character, a woman who loses her child and goes crazy. Also - Nora from the play "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen, and of course my big dream is Agafya Tikhonovna from "Marriage" by Gogol. I hope that I will play her in the theater or the cinema.

Meeting with which director changed your life?

There are several of them. Undoubtedly, this is Stas Zhirkov, a theater director who changed my life, and film director Eva Neiman, after working with which my life also changed radically. And probably, it is necessary to remember Kira Georgievna Muratova, who saw something in me and invited me for a small episodic role in her film, after which I began to enter the cinema. So in the cinema it is Kira Muratova and Eva Neiman, and in the theater it is Stas Zhirkov.

Is saying "no" difficult for you? Do you know how to say no if you don't like the role or the director?

Before, it was very, very difficult for me to say "no". In principle, I do not like to say "no" to people in any situation. But over the years, the skin begins to grow rough, like an elephant's, I become more confident, so now, if I understand that I will be wasting my time, I will be nervous on the platform, then in such a case I have already learned to refuse.

You are now very much in demand in cinema and theater. And if you were offered to dream in advertising? And what kind of product advertising would you definitely refuse?

During the period of quarantine, I was repeatedly offered to dream in commercials for cleaning products and milk, but it seems to me that I have outgrown the roles from the series "waiting in line for a packet of milk." However, if I were offered to become the face of a brand of perfume, or a car, or some commercials related to children, social projects, I would agree. And I would categorically not advertise alcohol, cigarettes, hemorrhoid remedies, birth control campaigns.
