In Odessa, by the end of next year, a new outdoor lighting system is planned to cover all the city's yards and highways - from densely populated streets to the private sector. This was announced by Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
The work started in the Suvorovsky district of Odessa, where more than 1000 streetlights have already been equipped with new lamps.
"This is the sanctification of a new generation. In addition to the fact that the new lamps are 30-40% more economical in terms of power consumption than those operated by us earlier, savings can also be achieved by adjusting the brightness of the lighting. For example, after midnight, when there are practically no people in the yards, the brightness can be reduced by half," said Trukhanov.
Also, a new outdoor lighting system appeared near the railway station.
"If we are talking about those sections of work that are being carried out now, about 50 million hryvnias have been spent on them. But thanks to the economy of electricity, we will get payback within five to seven years. This year, we expect to complete the works in the Suvorovsky district and on the main highways to the city center. And by the end of the next year, we will install new lighting throughout the city," said the acting director. Deputy Mayor of Odessa - Director of the Department of Urban Economy of the Odessa City Council Dmitry Zheman.
As a reminder, the work is carried out within the framework of the "Evening Odessa" project in accordance with the map of outdoor lighting of Odessa, which was developed in the fall of 2020.
