A project to install underground containers for the collection of solid household waste (MSW) is being implemented in Odessa. Four more such structures appeared on Zhvanetsky Boulevard, as well as on ul. Grecheskaya (between Ryshelyevskaya and Ekaterininskaya).

According to the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, the European experience was initially studied, as well as the peculiarities of the collection and removal of solid household waste in Odessa.
The main indicators aimed at are cleanliness, an aesthetically attractive appearance, a low installation price and ease of maintenance.
"Our specialists have developed a project in which instead of an electric drive, a hydraulic device is used, which is connected to any garbage collection machine. In addition, ordinary standard containers are used, which are easy to use," the mayor noted.
Also, Gennady Trukhanov emphasized the need for separate garbage collection: the yellow marking of the above-ground part indicates a plastic collection container.
Such constructions will soon appear on Greek Square and in Tchaikovsky Lane. Work on the installation of containers is already underway on Leontovych and Ekaterininskaya Streets.
"In the future, we are going to transfer the entire historic center of the city to this type of containers, as it is more convenient, aesthetically looks much better, cleaner and there is no corresponding smell. On French Boulevard, the system was made at the expense of investors, and now we are negotiating with large entrepreneurs. Business is also interested in this, as it allows them not to be thrown garbage. There is a system - if some institution orders its own containers, they are issued with chips so that no one can use their containers," said the acting director. As a reminder, the first underground garbage containers were installed in July this year on Primorsky Boulevard.
