As you know, as part of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, the "weekend quarantine" regime is being introduced from this Saturday. Restaurants, gyms, shopping centers, swimming pools, and hardware stores are closed on Saturday and Sunday. For the majority of Odessa businessmen who have not yet recovered after the general spring quarantine, this regime becomes a serious test of business survival. That's what businessmen said yesterday, November 11, during a rally outside the walls of the Odesa Regional State Administration. But regional officials do not care about the problems of representatives of small and medium-sized businesses now.
The only person who supported Odessa businessmen was the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov.
"I am sure that if it were not for the elections on November 15, Trukhanov would have done the same - he did not submit to the decision to lock down the day off. Of course, such a solution requires eggs and people's support. In three days we will see for ourselves whether our mayor has all this. But the fact that he is the only one in the country (apart from Sadovoy, who declared his disobedience to idiotic decisions) who came to the desperate protesting workers of the restaurant industry is a fact that speaks volumes. At least to me. Next time we will sue Hrynevetskyi. It is necessary to check the new governor. And the next time is very soon! Do not switch!", - noted the on her Facebook page, the owner of the "U Angelovyh" cafe, Irina Angelova.
Trukhanov noted that small and medium-sized businesses are actively helping the city fight the epidemic. Therefore, the city government should do everything possible to help business.
"Yesterday, I had a meeting with Odesa restaurateurs who held a rally near the Odesa Regional State Administration with the demand to protect their business when the "weekend quarantine" was introduced. Restaurateurs are the ones who will suffer first of all, because half of the restaurants may close forever. Representatives of small and medium-sized businesses are the people who first responded and provided assistance in purchasing medical equipment and protective equipment. It is the representatives of the restaurant business who continue to feed medical workers around the clock. Small and medium-sized businesses help the city fight the pandemic. Communicating with doctors every day, I understand the seriousness of the situation. I plan to hold consultations with the Minister of Health, the Chief Sanitary Doctor and the Prime Minister in order to develop a detailed plan for the work of small and medium-sized businesses - of course, subject to compliance with all quarantine measures. I am sure that we should solve such important issues for residents on the spot, taking into account our local realities," Trukhanov noted.
