Today, August 23, at 11.00 a.m., a 29-meter flag of Ukraine was unfurled over the Potemkin Stairs in honor of the 29th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence.
After raising the 18-meter symbol of Ukraine on the Vorontsovsky lighthouse, celebrations on the occasion of the National Flag Day continued in the "land" part of Odessa.
At 9 a.m., police guards and representatives of the Institute of National Remembrance held a ceremony to raise the Ukrainian flag in the Vorontsov Colonnade. Performers from the Ukrainian Theater also performed here.
At 10 o'clock, the traditional solemn ceremony took place on Duma Square.
Then the organizers of the Embroidery Festival, volunteers and soldiers of the 28th Mechanized Brigade unfurled the 29-meter flag of Ukraine on the Potemkin Stairs. Let us remind you that this tradition has been going on for many years and each time the flag gets longer and longer, since each meter symbolizes one hour from the day of the declaration of independence of Ukraine
