The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the first wave of COVID-19 has started in the country only now. He stated this in an interview with the Ukraina 24 TV channel.
- Most of the European countries - Italy, England, the Baltic countries, all congratulated us when we defeated the first wave. We didn't really have the first wave in Ukraine, now it is, and now we are growing. It's a wave now. The wave is that it grows daily. We simply shot down the first wave, it was not in Ukraine at the time it was in Europe. This is despite the fact that we took Ukrainians home, - said the guarantor.
The president noted that the country is ready for the "second wave", however, if it is not too powerful.
— We are now really powerful in this direction - from the point of view of beds, equipment, number of tests, technical training, specialists. But it will not withstand any number of beds, and especially it will not withstand the number of specialists of the second wave, if it will be very powerful. If our doctors can't stand it, what happened in Italy will happen, Zelensky emphasized.
