On July 5, some mass media reported that the collectors of "Infoksvodokanal" could not cope with a large volume of rainwater due to their technical characteristics. Allegedly, this caused the flooding of Vysokogo lane, Vodoprovodnaya, Balkovskaya, Srednefontanskaya, Armeyskaya, Ingleza, Primorskaya, Melnytskaya streets and some streets of the city center.
"Infoksvodokanal" informs that the central part of the city of Odessa has an all-metal sewage system, that is, a storm sewer is connected to the household sewage system of "Infoksvodokanal", which is serviced by KP "City Roads".
With the aim of proper drainage of Odessa and uninterrupted functioning of the collectors of the household sewage system, "Infoksvodokanal" conducts preventive flushing and maintenance in a timely manner. And during bad weather, Vodokanal employees work in an intensified mode together with KP "City Roads", eliminating the consequences of bad weather.
During heavy rainfall on July 4-5, all the collectors that are on the balance sheet of "Infoksvodokanal" worked normally, ensuring the proper passage of both household sewage and stormwater. The technical characteristics of sewage collectors are not the cause of flooding in certain sections of city streets, as erroneously stated in some publications.
