Law enforcement officials have announced that the former head of one of the territorial departments of the Ministry of Defense is suspected of neglecting military service (Part 3 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This was reported in the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police.
During the investigation, it was established that the officer had signed official documents in which false information about the volume and cost of the work performed during the construction of the barracks of the improved layout in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, had been entered in advance. On the basis of these documents, budget funds were transferred to the accounts of commercial structures for works that were not actually performed. As a result, the state suffered damage in the amount of more than 3 million hryvnias.
For what he did, the officer may face imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.
Three heads of commercial structures are also being investigated in this case. At the end of December, the law enforcement officers informed them of suspicions under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: part 5 of article 191 (Privilege, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of service position) and part 2 of article 366 (Employee fraud).
