The police are establishing the circumstances of the crash of a sports plane in the village of Sheparovtsy, Kolomysk District. As a result of the plane crash, four people died - a Ukrainian and three US citizens.
Now the investigative and operative group of the regional police, forensic experts and other emergency services are working at the scene of the incident, establishing all the circumstances of the accident.
The cause of the plane's crash could be a technical malfunction. Residents of the private house on which the plane fell were not injured.
"It was an ordinary inspection flight. The legendary pilot Igor Tabanyuk, who is considered a super-professional and one of the best pilots, died. Three foreigners were also killed, whose identities are now being established," the police said.
Tabaniuk was 59 years old. He has been flying for 40 years, taking to the air for the first time in 1981. He was a military pilot before retirement. In the mid-2000s, he made an emergency landing in the Tibetan mountains and spent six frosty days on a snow-covered mountain without food or means of survival. Ego was found by Indian rescuers.
In recent years, the pilot actively worked on the revival of small aviation in the country, restored the airport in his native city of Kolomyia, led an aviation club and school.
He is known to many Ukrainian viewers for the cycle of programs "The World Upside Down". Then the presenter Dmitry Komarov together with Igor Tabaniuk traveled more than three thousand kilometers in a small four-seater plane, made 33 takeoffs and 33 landings, visited 33 airfields. The route covered almost all of Ukraine, with the exception of regions closed to flights.
