The investigators of the capital police announced the suspicion of two men who took almost 5 million hryvnias from a resident of Kiev. This was reported in the communication department of the Kyiv police.
A man called hotline 102 and said that on Yevheniya Kharchenko Street, unknown persons hit him and took a bag containing almost 5 million hryvnias. The criminal police and investigative team immediately arrived at the scene.
As Igor Padyuk, the head of the criminal police of the Darnytsia police department, said, the victim planned to spend the money on buying an apartment, but the attackers found out about it and prepared in advance for the crime. After waiting for the victim, they ran up to him, took a bag with money and hid in a car.
"We carried out a complex of operational and investigative activities and found out the route of the vehicle of the offenders. Subsequently, they established the location of the persons involved in the case and, with the force support of the KORD special unit, detained them in Odessa," he said.
The perpetrators were residents of Kyiv and Odesa regions, born in 1966 and 1977. One of them is repeatedly tried for property crimes. In order to hide the traces of the crime, the criminals even tried to burn their car.
Law enforcement officials informed the men of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Robbery). The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect. They face up to 13 years in prison with confiscation of property.
