President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced the introduction martial law. 300 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada voted for such a decision.
"This morning, President Putin announced the introduction of a special military operation in Donbass. Russia struck our military infrastructure against our border guards, border detachments. Explosions were heard in many cities of Ukraine. We are imposing martial law on the entire territory of our state... Calmness is required from each of you today. Stay at home if possible. We work. The army is working. The entire security and defense sector is working... Don't panic. We are strong. We are ready for anything," the president said.
The head of state confirmed that Russia struck the Ukrainian military infrastructure and border troops, explosions were heard in many cities.
Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk forbade deputies to leave Kyiv: "Whoever left is a traitor."
