Ukraine has a problem with Russian propaganda in social networks, in particular in Telegram, which makes one think about the introduction of military censorship. He stated this in an interview "Telegraph" people's deputy from "Servant of the People", chairman of the parliamentary committee on humanitarian and information policy Nikita Poturaev.
Commenting on the adoption of the new law on mobilization, the people's deputy expressed the opinion that "absolutely revealing and terrible things happened" around this draft law in social networks. According to Poturaev, to solve this problem, "technologically, there is only one solution - to turn off social networks."
The People's Deputy noted that, on the one hand, after blocking Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki in 2017, "the sky did not fall", but blocking, for example, TikTok, where there is a lot of Russian propaganda, will not solve the problem - publications are simply duplicated in other social networks, in particular in " Telegram".
According to Poturaev, the owners of some social networks refuse to cooperate with the state and introduce restrictions on certain content. For example, YouTube and Facebook block Russian propaganda, and platform X (formerly Twitter) stopped doing so after the arrival of Elon Musk. With Telegram, the situation is even more telling. According to the people's deputy, this platform blocks the channels of the Russian protest movement at the request of the FSB, but ignores the appeals of Ukrainian regulatory authorities.
"At the same time, Ukrainians are completely unaware of the threat. Now I am forced, including as the head of the committee, to think: maybe it is time to introduce military censorship. Because military censorship is not only content restrictions. These are also additional powers." - says Poturaev.
In particular, the People's Deputy wants to see a more effective reaction of law enforcement officers to the actions of those who constantly write on social networks about violations in the work of the TCC.
"Find someone who purposefully (maybe not even for Russian money), but writes day after day that all TCCs are corrupt, grab people on the street, send people to the front without preparation, which is a lie. Indeed, there are individual cases, which are always followed by appropriate conclusions. (…) But to write on the basis of five or seven cases that the whole system is like this, and the TCC is a horror, and stay away from the TCC, then you are a fool or a Russian agent. And for the law, there should be no difference whether you are a Russian agent or an idiot. You should go to prison for activities that undermine your state," - said Poturaev.
The People's Deputy emphasized that what was said is his personal perception of the problem, and no legislative initiatives are currently being prepared in this regard.
