Today, around 5 a.m., February 24, Kyiv time, Vladimir Putin in a new address announced the conduct of a "special military operation" in Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Federation began shelling Ukrainian cities.
Putin stated that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukraine, but the Russian Federation will strive for its "demilitarization and denazification."
"Putin started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities continue. This is a war of aggression.
Ukraine will defend itself and win. The world can and must stop Putin. It's time to act — right now," said Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, addressed the Russians, saying that Putin refuses to hold telephone talks. Zelensky asked the Russians if they wanted war.
"The leadership of your country does not sit down at the negotiating table with us. He can sit down with you," the Ukrainian president said.
