President Volodymyr Zelensky, after the announcement of the draft law on "multiple citizenship", introduced five draft laws related to citizenship to the Verkhovna Rada.
This is about:
- The draft law on amendments to the Law "On Citizenship of Ukraine" regarding the procedure for obtaining and terminating Ukrainian citizenship (No.6368);
- The draft law on the prevention and counteraction of threats to the national security of Ukraine in the sphere of citizenship (No6369);
- The draft law on amendments to Article 570 of the Customs Code of Ukraine on the prevention and counteraction of threats to the national security of Ukraine in the sphere of citizenship (No.6370);
- The draft law on amendments to the law "On the judicial system and the status of judges" on the prevention and counteraction of threats to the national security of Ukraine in the sphere of citizenship (No.6371);
- The draft law on amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine on Liability for Violation of the Law on Citizenship (No.6372).
Before that, on December 1, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the introduction of a bill on multiple citizenship to the Verkhovna Rada.
Currently, according to article 4 of the Constitution, "there is one citizenship in Ukraine." Thus, deputies will need a constitutional majority to introduce amendments to the Constitution.
