Belarus has prepared a sanctions list against a number of Ukrainian officials. This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Vladimir Makei.
"We have already worked out and will take appropriate and adequate measures. At the initial stage, we also prepared the appropriate sanctions list against a number of Ukrainian officials. And we will continue to watch how events will develop," Mackay emphasized.
The minister promised "not one of Ukraine's actions directed against the Belarusian state will go unanswered."
Mackay reminded that Ukraine has declared that "it has put all relations with Belarus on hold, that it is necessary to put pressure on the so-called regime so that true democracy in their understanding will come."
According to him, at the same time, Ukraine joins the (EU) sanctions against Belarus. In Kyiv, he said, they believe that, by introducing sanctions, they are helping the people of Belarus by tightening cooperation with the country. "We see that this is absolutely perverted logic. And we categorically do not welcome such an approach," Mackay added.
According to the minister, Minsk cannot consider Ukraine's accession to EU sanctions as "an absolutely unfriendly step and a request to interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus."
