In Ukraine, they plan to revise the legislation on education for national minorities, but the application of exceptions to Hungary's requirements is not foreseen, said the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishyna.
According to her, the political leadership in Budapest does not show a general interest in solving this problem. Ukraine does not plan to make special exceptions for Hungary in the case of national minorities, which is one of the criteria of the European Commission for starting negotiations on joining the European Union.
The vice-prime minister noted that Ukraine also has Romanian, Greek and Bulgarian minorities, but "they shout the loudest" in Budapest, although this does not indicate the presence of problems.
Olga Stefanishyna emphasized that Ukraine is currently negotiating with Romania, whose national minority is one of the largest in the country. While there are no such claims in Bucharest. Therefore, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, Hungary is politically not interested in a radical solution to this issue.
According to her, Ukraine plans to make changes to the legislation on national minorities with regard to the educational process, but this will be done on a general basis.
"Our stage of transition to a new level of legislative regulation is more progressive. It will also create clarity on the ground, that is, educators on the ground - in Transcarpathia, in other regions of Ukraine - will have greater clarity regarding the organization of the educational process." Stefanishyna said.
We will remind you that Hungary threatens to block the start of negotiations with Ukraine on joining the European Union until Hungarian demands regarding the Ukrainian law on the language of education are met.
