Sunak may be removed from his post before the parliamentary elections, — Bloomberg

Ministers involved in the talks continue to support Sunak

The British government is discussing the possibility of replacing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as the country's head of government before the parliamentary elections. It is reported Bloomberg.

According to the paper, cabinet ministers have held private discussions in recent days exploring the possibility that the party may be forced to replace Sunak before the UK election this year.

The question is whether an interim leader will help stem the surge in opposition Labor that many fear.

Rishi Sunak won the support of the vast majority of conservative politicians who were convinced that another change in leadership would do far more political damage than keeping him.

The talks were catalyzed by a series of political shenanigans that appeared to expose Sunak's inability to make quick policy decisions, including the unveiling of new tax cut promises and controversies over racist remarks.

The publication notes that the ministers involved in the negotiations continue to support Sunak and do not want a change of leadership now.

No challenger appears to have enough support to mount a challenge, bolstering hopes among allies that the prime minister will hold out until an election he says is likely to be held in the second half of 2024.

The agency notes that according to the results of the polls, the Conservatives lag behind the Labor Party by more than 20 points.
